Are your walls in need of a new colour and do you think painting with a brush takes too long? Then it’s time to have your walls sprayed. Read all about the costs, options and handy tips here.
What does spray painting your walls cost?
Some work is best left to a specialist. That way, you can be sure to enjoy a beautiful end result. The costs of wall spraying depend on several factors. Consider, for example, the total surface area, the finish and the labour costs of the painter. Check out the average prices below. £ 14 per m2
Painter£ 35 – £ 40 per hour
Walls spraying with spackle and walls spraying with latex paint are two different steps carried out by two different specialists: a plasterer and a painter. In spackling, the plasterer applies a layer of plaster to the wall under high pressure. This spackle layer can then be painted over or sprayed with (latex) paint. Spackling with latex paint thus involves the painter.
This article focuses on spraying with latex paint. For more information and tips on spray painting, check out the prices page: spray painting costs.

Walls spraying: How does it work?
With wall spraying, proper preparation is very important. First, the painter takes some precautions, such as taping off the floor, ceiling, any furniture that has not been removed from the room and window frame wood, for example. This way, when spraying, the paint does not end up where it should not.
After preparing the room, the painter applies the paint to the wall with an airless latex paint sprayer. Because the paint sprayer atomises the paint onto the substrate at high pressure, it creates a tight and streak-free result. After spraying the wall, the painter may have to apply an additional layer to get the paint fully covered.
Pre- and disadvantages of spraying your walls
There are several advantages and disadvantages of spraying walls compared to painting with a brush or paint roller.
- Even smoother and tighter results than when you paint your walls
- Fast application
- Lower costs than when you paint
- Better layer thickness and therefore a nicer result
Why can it be more convenient to use a brush or roller, depending on your project? Spray work releases spray mist: tiny paint particles that float through the air and then settle. As you obviously don’t want paint stains on furniture or floors, for example, it is very important to cover all surfaces very precisely.
A lot of time goes into this. Especially if you have a wall with many windows or other interruptions, the painter will spend a lot of time on the preparation work. So, depending on your situation, it can be time-saving – and therefore cost-saving – not to have your walls sprayed, but to take the roller and brush instead.
For which walls is spray painting suitable?
Would you like to paint a (plastered) exterior wall or paint the plastering indoors? It’s all possible. Any wall can be sprayed with latex or spackle. The result is most beautiful on an even surface. On a non-level surface, the structure under the paint will remain visible. So make sure your walls are wallpaper-ready or sauce-ready.
Handy tips on wall spraying
Has the decision been made to have your walls painted? Then it’s time to find the right painter for this project. Of course you want your walls to be painted as neatly as possible, but at the same time you don’t want to pay too much either. Below are some tips that can help you make the right choice.
Request a quote from several painters
Always request several quotes before choosing a painting company. Comparing them may take a bit more time, but it will save you on the cost of wall spraying. By comparing the requested quotations, you can see exactly which work is included in the total price, when the painter can start work and other information such as the guarantees the painter gives. This way, you can make an informed choice for the painter who best suits your project.
Paint all walls in one go
When several walls need a new layer of paint, it is more efficient to do it all at once. This way you will have painted everything at once and only have to deal with a painter in your home once. Moreover, the average costs are often comparatively lower because you only have to pay the call-out fee once and the painter has a larger surface area to paint. With a large total area, the painter often charges a nice discount.
Look for a painting company with a quality mark
There are also quality marks in use in the painting industry to distinguish high-quality painting companies. Well-known quality marks are the KOMO quality mark and the De Betere Schilder quality mark. Another quality mark is OnderhoudNL Garantie. Companies with this quality mark are also in possession of all the necessary professional and technical diplomas. So you can soon enjoy the end result without any worries.
