Depending on your requirements, these are the boiler prices:
The cheapest
You need a small boiler for your kitchen. You don’t use much hot water so you choose an electric boiler with 10-litre capacity. The boiler will cost around £180.
The most luxurious
For hot water in your bathroom, have a boiler installed. You have a shower, but also a bathtub. You would like a relatively cheap way to generate hot water, so you choose a 150-litre gas boiler. The boiler and installation together cost around £1,500.
The most economical
You want to save as much as possible on energy costs. You have found the solution and you opt for a solar water heater. You have a household of 2 and therefore a 100-litre boiler will more than suffice. The installation of the collectors and the boiler will cost around £2,000.
How is the boiler price structured?
What determines boiler prices?
The price of a boiler can’t be told in 1, 2, 3 ways, because it depends on some choices you make:
Choice 1: What kind?
As mentioned earlier, there are 3 kinds of boilers: electric boiler, gas boiler and solar boiler. Each kind has its own important feature. Like most people, will you choose the electric boiler? This one is cheap to buy and easy to install. The gas boiler is fast in heating water and the solar boiler is environmentally conscious and provides great savings on energy bills. What you think is most important has a big influence on the choice of the type of boiler you choose.
Choice 2: What capacity?
What capacity you take is directly related to the location of the boiler and your current consumption. If the boiler will be located in the bathroom, you will soon need a minimum capacity of 80 litres. With a bath added, a 150 litre boiler is recommended. A boiler for the kitchen needs much less capacity. There, a 10-litre boiler will do. For the kitchen, you only have the choice of gas or electric, as a solar boiler has too much capacity for just a kitchen. For the bathroom, all three types are suitable. Always check first whether the boiler you want meets your current consumption.
Choice 3: Additional options
A number of choices are not necessary, but can be a useful addition:
Extra option | Average prices | Advantage |
---|---|---|
Kitchen faucet | £60 – £200 | No limescale in the faucet so cleaner water |
Kitchen faucet | £600 – £1.300 | No more waiting for boiling water |
