What is interior design advice?

Are you redecorating your home or have you just bought a new house and are not quite sure yet what you want to do with the room(s) in your home? Then it may be useful to request interior advice. Interior advice is verbal or written advice from an interior stylist for your interior.

The interior stylist comes to this advice by looking at the room(s) and discussing your wishes. What exactly this advice consists of depends on the interior stylist and the type of interior advice he or she offers.

Prior to this meeting, you can make a mood board for the interior stylist. This is not only useful for discovering your own style, but also so that you can make a good choice in which interior stylist can best respond to your wishes.

What types of interior advice are there?

Interior stylists decide which types of interior advice they offer. In general, with most interior stylists you can choose from: short, extensive or a complete interior advice.

Short interior advice

A short interior advice is the cheapest option. This advice often consists of a one- to three-hour conversation in which the interior stylist answers your questions and thinks along with you about any problems you might encounter. What is included in this advice depends on the interior stylist. In most cases, a short interior advice includes the following:

  • You will have a personalised home interior design consultation.
  • All your questions about interior design will be answered.
  • You will receive colour advice about the room(s) in question.
  • Afterwards you will be sent examples, colour samples and/or an advice report.

Comprehensive interior design advice

If you need a little more guidance, a comprehensive interior design advice can help. This advice often consists of the following components:

  • You will get a 2D or 3D visualisation of the room.
  • An atmospheric mood board will be created.
  • You will get an article list showing what you can get in your home and where to buy it.
  • A floor plan is made to scale for the layout of the room in question.
  • You will receive colour advice on the room(s)
  • You will receive a materials, lighting, fixtures, furniture, and styling plan.

Complete interior design advice

For a complete interior design advice, the interior stylist will not only draw up an interior design plan, but also carry it out. All you have to do is tell him your wishes and the stylist will come up with a plan that fully meets your needs. A complete interior design consultation usually looks like this:

  • You will receive a complete interior design plan with the same components as in the comprehensive interior design consultation, for example the 2D or 3D visualisation, mood board etc.
  • The plan is presented at home.
  • All interior items are purchased.
  • The space will be arranged according to the interior plan.
  • The room will be decorated.

Take a look at the price examples below and get a better idea of the various options offered by interior stylists.

A cheap advice

Are you looking for an interior stylist, but prefer not to pay too much for it? Then opt for short interior advice. The interior stylist gives basic colour and interior advice, for example. Comprehensiveinterior plan

Do you want to thoroughly change your interior? Then a comprehensive tailor-made advice might be for you. You will receive a comprehensive interior design plan, including an article list. After which you can buy and furnish all the items yourself as described in the interior plan. The average cost of an extensive consultation is around £ 1,900 per project.

Time-saving

Do you want to have an entire room renovated or redecorated and do not have the time or inclination to do this yourself? Then opt for comprehensive interior advice. The interior plan includes various layout proposals in the form of a 2D or 3D drawing. Together with the interior stylist, you will come up with a suitable plan. The project is then realised in its entirety by the interior stylist. The costs for designing and realising the interior plan amount to an average of £ 3,000 per room.
