Landscaper costs

Price examples

To give you an idea of the costs, here are 3 price examples for a garden up to 100 m².

Good-value garden design

If you have a global garden design made by your landscaper, you will be the cheapest. This means that no details are drawn; for example, a garden table will be a rectangle on the design. The cost for such a garden design averages £200.

Average garden design

For an average garden design by a garden architect, a detailed design is made. This is what is chosen most often. The name says it all, the details can be read off, so you now know that this is a scaffolded garden table with chairs. Multiple elements are also now shown, such as planters and a pergola. An average garden design costs on average £300.

Expensive garden design

Do you want to know exactly what your garden will look like? Then get your landscaper to create a 3D garden design. 3D designs are becoming increasingly popular. A table, flower bed, pond and pergola can now be clearly seen from all sides. You pay an average of £500 for a 3D garden design.

Cost breakdown Garden architect costs

What choices determine the cost of a garden architect?

If you have decided to have a garden design made, you will be faced with a number of choices that affect the total price. These choices are explained below.

Choice 1: Type of garden design

Your garden designer can make 3 types of garden designs. Do you opt for a simple flat drawing or for the 3D version, which gives you a glimpse of your future garden?

  • Simple garden design
A simple garden design from a landscaper will give you a black-and-white drawing divided into squares to scale. With this design, you will see the top view of your garden, similar to a floor plan of your house. However, explanations are needed about the shapes, which are not present in the drawing. A simple garden design costs on average £ 200 for a garden of up to 100 m².
  • Detailed garden design
A detailed garden design is basically the same as a simple garden design. However, it now adds colour and shape to the design, clearly showing what is grass or paving and where your tree will be. For a garden design up to 100 m², you pay an average of £250 to a landscaper.
  • 3D garden design
The word 3D actually says it all. The landscaper designs the garden digitally, allowing you to walk through your future garden digitally already. A 3D garden design gives by far the most realistic picture of your garden and makes imagining a lot easier. Designing a 3D garden up to 100 m² costs an average of £450.

Choice 2: Size of your garden

It sounds logical; the bigger your garden, the more expensive it is to have a garden design done. More elements are incorporated into the garden design, which means more work for a landscaper.

Choice 3: Planting plan

Would you like to decide in advance which plants will go in your garden? Get advice from your garden architect and include the right plants directly in your garden design. This is not compulsory, but it is useful. A planting plan describes exactly which type of plant will be where. For a planting plan by a garden architect, on average 50% of the design costs are charged extra.
