Are you going to invest in securing your business? The costs you incur as a business in the event of a burglary are often many times higher than the cost of good burglary prevention. Renoca shows you how to optimally secure your business and what the costs are.
What will burglary protection for your business premises cost?
If you have decided to secure your business premises, you have several options. You can take a very extensive package with all the trimmings, or a slightly smaller package with only an alarm system, for example. The more extensive your package is, the more you will deter burglars. See the average prices of the packages in the table below:
Content of package | Average prices |
---|---|
Alarm system | £ 1,000 – £ 1,300 |
Alarm system and camera surveillance | £ 2.400 – £ 2,700 |
Alarm system, Camera surveillance and 1,000 m2 of barred fencing | £ 9,200 – £ 9,500 |

As minimal and inexpensive as possible:
An alarm system is a security tool that every business premises should have. If you just want to install an alarm system in your premises and don’t think a larger package is necessary, you will spend between £1,000 and £1,300 for just an alarm system.
Something more comprehensive:
For more security, get camera surveillance in addition to an alarm system. An alarm system and camera surveillance together cost between £2,400 and £2,700. A fence is a good way to stop burglars, especially if it also has spikes or electric fence on top. A package with alarm system, camera surveillance and 1,000 m2 of barred fencing will cost around £9,200 and £9,500 in total.
How are the burglary protection business premises prices structured?
What are the choices that determine the price of burglary protection?”
The prices of different burglary protection packages vary widely. This is because there are choices for each security system that determine the price.
Choice 1: Alarm systems
- Connection: When choosing your alarm system, there are several options on which the price depends. You need to decide what kind of connection you want. For this, you need to choose from wired, wireless or a hybrid alarm system. With a commercial building, a hybrid system is often chosen because it is a reliable wired system that can be easily expanded with wireless components.
- Communication dialer: With an alarm system, you also get to choose what kind of communication dialer the system should have. You can choose from PSTN (via landline phone) LAN (landline phone and internet) and GSM (landline phone, internet and SMS). More detailed information about the prices of these choices can be found on the page about alarm systems.
Choice 2: Camera surveillance
- Type of camera: There are 2 camera types to choose from: Analogue or HD IP. There is a price and quality difference between these 2. Analogue is cheaper, but the system is outdated and the image quality is not as good. With an HD IP camera surveillance system, you get much more detailed images, but this is a lot more expensive.
- Type of camera: For the type of camera, you have a choice between a Bullet camera and a Dome camera. A bullet camera is a camera on a stand or bracket and is often placed outdoors. A dome camera is round and can be placed either on the ceiling or against the wall. With a dome camera, you cannot see exactly where it is pointed.
To get a better idea of which camera surveillance system is best for you, check out the camera surveillance page.
Choice 3: Fencing
- Material: When buying a fence, you have a choice between 2 different types of material: Wood and metal. With a wooden gate, you also have to choose between different wood grades, with some lasting longer than others. Bar-fencing, mesh fencing and bar-fencing are always made of metal, because they have details that cannot be made with wood.
- Style of the fence: So if you choose a metal gate, you also have to choose the style of the fence. A bar fence is very sturdy and is the most commonly chosen for a business property. Another common choice for business premises is mesh fencing. Wire mesh fencing is flexible and durable. There is also double mesh fencing. Double-rod mesh fencing is very strong and relatively inexpensive. For more information on fencing, see the page on fencing.
Choice 4: Additional options
The options below are not necessary, but are worth considering for the security of your premises.

Alarm system | Monitoring room connection | £15 – £30 per month | Alarm is always signalled and monitored. |
