Cost overview Kitchen specialist prices

What choices determine the price of your new kitchen?

A new kitchen from a kitchen specialist costs on average £6,000 to £17,000. Depending on the following choices, you will be in the lower or higher price range:

Choice 1: Kitchen fronts

The material of the kitchen fronts has a lot of influence on the look of the kitchen. Below you can see the various types of materials, from budget-friendly material to exclusive material. The more stars, the higher the price.

Material Price indication Explanation of material type
Melamine * Melamine is a resin pressed under high pressure onto an MDF panel. It is a budget-friendly material.
Foil ** Foil is a wafer-thin layer glued to the base surface via a chemical process. The disadvantage is that it is not completely scratch-free.
Laminate *** Laminate, like melamine, is a resin that is pressed under high pressure onto an MDF panel and has a decor layer on the top. Laminate is harder and more moisture-resistant than melamine.
Acrylic **** Fronts with an acrylic coating are characterised by an excellent ultra-high gloss. Acrylic kitchen doors are easy to clean.
Matt/high gloss lacquer **** Lacquer decors, like foil doors, have an MDF panel as a base, on which the lacquer is then sprayed. An advantage is that you can choose almost any colour, but it is not resistant to scratches.
Massive wood ***** Massive fronts are wooden fronts made from solid beams. To avoid damage as much as possible, hard woods such as oak, cherry, beech or maple are mainly chosen. Good maintenance is necessary.
Toughened glass ****** Toughened glass for kitchens is scratch-resistant, but you pay the highest price for it.
Choice 2: Appliances

The kitchen appliances represent quite a bit of the cost of a new kitchen. Look carefully at what you need and don’t want to do without. The average price shown above is based on a kitchen including a hob, extractor hood, fridge, dishwasher and (combi) oven. The following appliances are not necessary but do increase your comfort in the kitchen.

Equipment Average cost per unit, incl. vat
Inbuilt ceramic or induction hob £ 200 – £ 500
Oven £ 250 – £ 500
Oven £ 250 – £ 550
Extractor £ 100 – £ 600
Icing cabinet (with a recess height of 122 cm) £ 400 – £ 750
Dishwasher £ 300 – £ 1.000
Built-in combi microwave £ 500 – £ 1,000
Choice 3: Kitchen worktop

There are many options when it comes to the material for your kitchen worktop; plastic, natural stone, solid wood, composite or stainless steel. Check for yourself which kitchen worktop is most suitable for you or which material best suits the style of your new kitchen.

Material Price per linear metre
Plastic £300
Stainless steel / solid wood / composite / granite £500
Ceramic / concrete / tempered glass £650

Choice 4: Delivery and assembly

A kitchen specialist can take a lot of worries off your hands, such as measuring, advising, delivering, assembling and connecting the appliances. One advantage of such a complete package is that it allows you to enjoy a perfectly fitting and connected kitchen as soon as possible. However, when buying a kitchen, pay close attention to the delivery and installation conditions. These conditions differ from one kitchen specialist to another. A kitchen may be offered including measuring, delivery and installation, but this is not always the case. Sometimes assembly costs depend on the kitchen you put together or choose. There may also be a small charge, think £25, for measuring. Based on this, a quote can be prepared. Would you like to have your kitchen appliances installed by a kitchen specialist? Then count on an average fee of £60 per appliance.

Choice 5: 3D drawing

Many kitchen specialists offer an online kitchen configurator. Using this tool, you are able to turn your wishes and ideas regarding your dream kitchen into a professional 3D design. This will give you a good idea of what your new kitchen will look like. This tool is offered free of charge by kitchen specialists. In most cases, it is also possible to make an appointment to discuss the possibilities of a new kitchen, either in a shop or at your home. If you go to a shop, this advisory meeting is free of charge in most cases. If you want this consultation to take place in your home, find out about the costs before making an appointment. Some kitchen specialists offer free, no-obligation advice at your home, while others charge a fee for this service.

Choice 6: Additional options

The following equipment is not necessary but does increase your comfort in the kitchen.

Option Average cost per unit, incl. VAT
Warming drawers £ 400 – £ 700
Cooking water tap £ 600 – £ 1.100
Built-in steam oven £ 900 – £ 1,300
