Price structure of spackling
What choices determine the spackling costs?
What spackle spraying costs in your situation depends, among other things, on the following choices you need to make.
Choice 1: What colour do you want the wall to be?
Spack is sprayed in white as standard, but you also have the option of going for another colour. If you want the wall in a colour other than white, it is advisable to have this done straight away because the spackling will then be coloured through and through, making damage less noticeable. Most plasterers charge a colour supplement of £2 per m2. Colour spraying costs on average between £ 7 and £ 9 per m2 and white spraying costs on average between £ 5 and £ 7 per m2. If so, keep in mind that you need certain materials and skills for spray painting. Spackling is done mechanically, so you need a spraying machine, compressor, hoses and a spray gun. A plasterer has all these materials as well as the knowledge and experience to give you the best quality. After all, you are looking at it every day.
Choice 3: Mask and demask yourself or outsource?
If you are going to outsource the spackling work, but want to help out yourself, then masking and demasking are things you can easily pick up yourself to save on your plastering. Masking is masking the floor and other items in the house. Demasking is cleaning up and disposing of waste. If you have a plasterer do the masking and de-masking, the cost of the spackling work is on average between £7 and £9 per m2. If you do it yourself, having a plasterer apply it will cost between £5 and £9 per m2.
Choice 4: Additional options
The additional options below are not necessary for every project, but it is useful to check whether they are necessary for your project.
Factors | Average price, incl. VAT | When? |
---|---|---|
Applying a thin layer under Spack | £ 12 – £ 20 per 2m | Does your wall have irregularities and holes? Then first apply a thin layer of plaster so that the wall is even before applying the Spachtelputz. |
Starting rate | £ 290 – £ 320 | If the area to be plastered is very small, a starting rate is often set. A starting rate is usually charged for areas under 30 m2. The price does not include materials. |
