Price examples cost aluminium window frames
The different prices are explained with the help of two price examples.
Replace old window frame
You want to install new window frames because the old ones need replacing. You replace your wooden window frames for aluminium window frames and have them installed by a specialist. If you choose a tilt/turn window (150 x 100), you will pay around £1,500 – £1,900 per window.
New window frame with ventilation grid
You decide to buy a new window frame with a large ventilation grid. If you choose a fixed window (150 x 100 cm), you will spend an average of £1,250 to £1,650. On top of that, you will have to pay about £ 60 for a large ventilation grille. In total, you will then pay about £ 1,310 to £ 1,710.
Is there a subsidy for aluminium window frames?
It is possible to get a subsidy for window frames if you also replace your current glass with HR++ glass or triple glass. The total number of m² of glass to be replaced must be at least 8 m². You can add the number of m² of window frames to the glass. You can receive a subsidy for a maximum of 45 m².
There are certain requirements for the U-value of the chosen glass. The U-value indicates the insulation value of the glass. The lower the value, the better the insulation.
For HR++ glass, a U-value of at most 1.2W/m2K applies and for triple glass it is 0.7W/m2K.
In order to be eligible for the subsidy, the installation must be carried out by a specialist, at least two insulation measures must be carried out and the subsidy must be applied for within 12 months of implementation.
For more information about the conditions and the subsidy amounts, please visit the website of the central government.

What choices affect the aluminium window frames prices?
Would you like to buy new window frames or do your current window frames need to be replaced? The choices below affect the overall price. Take a look below at the different options for aluminium window frames.
The type of window
There are different types of windows and each type has a different price…. Check out the features of the different types of windows below.
Fixed window
A fixed window is a frame, which you cannot open. This is the cheapest option, as these are standard frames and do not require difficult installation.
Turn/turn window
With this frame, it is possible to open the window in one direction inwards or to tilt it. Here it may still be possible to make a combination of a fixed window with a section that can be opened. Tilt&Turn windows are more expensive than fixed windows because of the more difficult construction.
The type of glass
If you buy a window frame, you will also have glass put in it at the same time. There are different types of glass to choose from. The better the insulation, the more you can save on your energy bill.
Glass type | Isolation | Average prices |
---|---|---|
Standard double glazing | Moderate | £ 70 – £ 100 per m² |
HR+ glass | Sufficient | £ 110 – £ 130 per m² |
HR++ glass | Good | £ 130 – £ 150 per m² |
HR+++ glass | Excellent | £ 170 – £ 190 per m² |
Extra options
When having new aluminium window frames fitted, you also have the choice of extra options such as a ventilation grille or a mosquito net. Ventilation grilles allow fresh air into your home. This air is drier than the air in a closed room, drastically reducing the risk of mould in the house. You can also buy a mosquito net to keep insects out. Take a look at the overview below for an indication of the different options and prices.
Extra option | Average prices | Advantage |
---|---|---|
Ventilation grilles | Small – £15 Large – £60 |
